Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil litigation and personal injury law, with experience handling cases from inception to resolution. This role requires excellent legal research, writing, and courtroom advocacy skills. You will be responsible for managing a caseload, conducting depositions, negotiating settlements, and representing clients in court.

Key Responsibilities

  • Case Management: Handle all aspects of personal injury and civil litigation cases, including case strategy, discovery, motions, depositions, and trial preparation.
  • Client Representation: Advocate for clients in court hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Legal Research & Drafting: Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and other legal documents.
  • Negotiations: Engage in settlement discussions with opposing counsel, insurance companies, and other parties.
  • Client Communication: Maintain regular contact with clients, keeping them informed of case developments and providing legal advice.
  • Court Appearances: Represent clients in state and federal courts, administrative hearings, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Compliance & Ethics: Ensure all legal work adheres to ethical and professional standards set by the New York State Bar.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Must be admitted to practice law in New York State.
  • 3+ years of experience in civil litigation and personal injury law preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of New York personal injury laws, torts, and civil procedure.
  • Excellent legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Courtroom and trial experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to manage a caseload independently while collaborating with a team.

Job Summary

The ideal candidate will have experience handling a broad range of immigration and bankruptcy cases, from client consultations to case resolution. This position requires strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills, as well as the ability to manage cases independently while collaborating with a team. You will represent clients in federal court, immigration proceedings, and bankruptcy hearings, ensuring the best possible outcomes for their cases.

Key Responsibilities

  • Immigration Law:
    • Handle various immigration cases, including asylum, removal defense, adjustment of status, naturalization, family-based petitions, employment-based immigration, and waivers.
    • Represent clients before U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), the Executive Office for Immigration Review (EOIR), and in federal court appeals.
    • Prepare and file petitions, applications, and legal documents for immigration cases.
    • Advise clients on immigration options and potential risks.
  • Bankruptcy Law:
    • Represent clients in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases.
    • Prepare and file bankruptcy petitions, schedules, and other required documentation.
    • Advocate for clients in bankruptcy hearings, including 341 meetings of creditors and court proceedings.
    • Advise individuals and businesses on bankruptcy alternatives and debt relief options.
  • Client Representation & Advocacy:
    • Provide legal counsel to clients facing deportation, foreclosure, wage garnishments, and financial hardships.
    • Conduct legal research, draft motions, and represent clients in federal and administrative courts.
    • Negotiate settlements and advocate for clients’ rights in complex legal matters.
  • Compliance & Professional Standards:
    • Ensure all legal work complies with New York State and federal laws, as well as ethical standards set by the bar.
    • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changing immigration policies and bankruptcy laws.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Must be admitted to practice law in New York State and Federal Court.
  • 3+ years of experience in immigration and bankruptcy law preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. immigration policies and bankruptcy code.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
  • Ability to handle cases independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong negotiation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fluency in Spanish or another second language is a plus but not required.
